PROSPERIDAD C. LUIS, was conferred UAP Fellow (1993) “for having rendered notable contribution to the advancement of architectural profession and outstanding achievements in the field of Design,Education and Research”.  During her investiture she expressed that to be a fellow is “a singular honor and recognition that gives any member a sense of achievement which is very difficult to words. Although honor has concomitant responsibilities the recognition inspired her to work even more”. She staunchly believes that the professional organization is the protector of great change for the common good.

She was conferred Likha Gold Medal Award in year 2017 "the highest distinction to be bestowed upon a fellow, who has adhered to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct, practiced in excellence and prestige the architectural profession, has rendered distinguished contribution and service to the UAP, and has performed exceptional achievements and active participation in the concern of the community, government and country."

Thus, Ar. Luis served as UAP National President (two terms) and as Chancellor, College of Fellows. The Professional Regulation Commission named her as Outstanding Professional of the Year in the Field of Architecture (1999). She represented UAP in international community of architects, served as the Vice Chair for Zone B of the Architects Regional Council Asia, and was Secretary General of the Central Council of the APEC Architect Project initiated by the Human Resources Development Group of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. She is one of the first 12 Architects in the Philippines acceptedin the APEC Architect Registry. Ar. Luis is the Principal of her own firm, Luis and Associates. The blending of the academe and architectural practice in her career had immensely benefited her as a professional. She was in the academe for thirty years until retirement as Dean and Professor in the College of Architecture of the University of the Philippines. She obtained degrees in Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture from University of the Philippines (UP).

She was a fellow of the World Health Organization (WHO) to the Medical Architecture Research Unit of the University of London and finished a postgraduate course in Health Facilities Planning and Design. She taught both in the UP College of Public Health and the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, with courses on planning, design, construction and maintenance of hospitals in their Master Program in Hospital Administration. She was Consultant and Temporary Adviser in assignments to Korea, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines of the Western Pacific Region of the WHO and a main contributor-writer of the WHO Publication,“District Hospitals: Guidelines for Development”. She obtained specialization in healthcare architecture and is a member of the Union of International Architects Public Health Group composed of architects and researchers in the academe. After retirement from UP, her training programs increased the number of healthcare architects in the Philippines and activated the UAP Specialty Council in Healthcare of the Professional Development Center.

The firm L&A underwent transformation from a firm practicinghealthcare architecture to one that is practicing, teaching and doing research in the specialization. Ar. Luis and her firm continue projects on high-rise commercial and residential buildings, religious structures,master plans and architecture designs for subdivisions. Her once-in-a-century experience is of being the Architect-on-Record of the Freedom Ring and the Theme Parks of the Philippine Centennial Exposition, the flagship project of the celebration of the 100th year of the Philippine Independence (1998), a showcase of history, culture and building technology.
