EDILBERTO F. FLORENTINO, a Fellow (1975) and the 9th LIKHA AWARDEE (2006), is distinguished in his conscientious identification of the essential functions in defining purposes and objectivesas the basic source of ingenious concepts of creating space in unity to an organized whole. He has an impeccable record of loyalty and exceptional service to the organization when he initiated the formation and dynamic involvement in the Panel of Negotiators and paved the way to the formal establishment of the United Architects of the Philippines.

Florentino achieved a marked professional excellence in four areas of proficiency as architect, environmental planner, inventor and arbitrator; for having exemplified a rare kind of leadership and outstanding managementstyle when he served as Chancellor of the prestigious UAP College of Fellows.

His vision, leadership and unrelenting vigor and zeal are evident in his taking significant role on matters of legislation and codes for the past thirty years leading to the crafting of the Republic Act No. 9266, known as The Architecture Act of 2004 and as member of the UAP Task Force on Standards of Professional Practice. He led the UAP’s professional and cohesive interaction with allied professional organizations, thereby projecting the UAP as a lead professional, technical organization, when he served as Director of the Confederation of Filipino Consultants (COFILCO), Treasurer and Director of the Council of Consulting Architects and Planners of the Philippines (CCAPP), and one of the Incorporators of Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Association, Inc. (CREBA).

His notable contributions to his community, his government and country, included his active participation in endeavors through the Rotary Club organization, having served as President of Rotary Club, Metro SFDM, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International Foundation, Director of Diego Silang Lions Club, Director of Premier Lions Club of QC, and President of Rang-ay, Ilocano Businessmen Professional Association, Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 6183 and 15-year Monarch of Lions Club International.

Florentino’s continuing professional participation in government led to his appointment as Member of the Board of Architecture. Known for his brilliant feat as an arbitrator, he was accredited and trained as Arbitrator of the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission.

He invented Innovative Building Technologies which led to twelve approved patents for Hyperbolic Paraboloids, Slabs on Plunger Files, Light Steel Cladded R.C. Core Building Frames, Mini-pile Bulbed Footings, Modular Lightweight Concrete and Thin Shell Barrel Vaults, and selflessly shared this expertisein local and international conventions and fora.

His principal Awards include Gawad Gintong Likha (Cultural Center of the Philippines, 2013); UAP Likha Gold Medal Award (2006); Gawad Ulirang Itay, Quezon City (2005); PRC, Professional of the Year, Architecture (2002); Most Outstanding Mapuan in Architecture (2002); Award of Appreciations Mumbai India, (2001) and Onyang, Korea (2000).
