ROBERT M. MIRAFUENTE is currently the principal architect of Robert Mirafuente and Associates - Architects, and seeks to design sustainable buildings that comply with the principles and strategies of green architecture. His work and seminars encourage his clients, industry partners and the community at large, to help preserve the environment and to be more concerned with healthy living and sustainable design. For the past 25 years, he has patiently mentored and inspired many young and aspiring architects to responsibly practice their profession here and abroad.

Ar. Mirafuente practiced in Singapore with the Dutch architectural firm Iversen Van Sitteren, doing design for offices and residences on Orchard Road. In collaboration with Hongkong Architect C. K. Chang, a former associate of Architect I. M. Pei, he designed and won the grand prize for Zhua Taw Urban Design International Competition in Canton in 1986. After Singapore, he was travelling and doing projects in China and Hongkong. For four years in Sydney, Australia, he was involved with Architecture Oceania in the design and development of Darling Harbour, Harbourside Festival Mall, Sydney Monorail and Manly Wharf. Later he joined Australia’s biggest architectural firm, Rice Daubney, in the design of complex projects in North Sydney and New Zealand.

Ar. Mirafuente assumed top positions in several organizations. He was the charter president of the Architects Alumni Association Batch ’83. He was the president of the UAP Fort Bonifacio Chapter in 1999. In 2001, he was the vice chairman of the Construction Development Agenda. He was the conference director of the 31st UAP National Convention and the First Construction Exposition and was the conference director of the Green Forum in 2004, 2007 and 2013.

He is a board member of the UST College of Architecture Alumni Association. He is the president of SJCS Batch 78 Alumni Association from 2013 to 2015. He is a founding member of the Green Architecture Movement of the Philippines and the Green Architecture Advocacy Philippines. Ar. Mirafuente finishedarchitecture from the University of Santo Tomas (1983). He spent two years at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, or more commonly known as SCI-Arc, under the tutelage of Architects James Stafford and Thom Mayne. He further took a master’s degree in Building Science at the University of Sydney in Australia. He also pursued a course in Project Construction Management at the University of New South Wales.

Robert was already practicing his profession even while he was still a student at the university, and worked with the architectural firm of Engracio Mariano in Makati (1982), while involved with projects for the Ayala Group, and finished his apprenticeship with Ar. Edgar Reformado in Makati after his graduation. Ar. Mirafuente finally settled back in the Philippines to set up his own design practice (1990). Since then, he has done building projects nationwide, ranging from residential houses, commercial and residential buildings, shopping malls, institutional buildings, schools and hotels.

Ar. Robert Mirafuente is married to a Swiss psychologist and together with their three children resides in Metro Manila, Philippines.

Presently, Ar. Mirafuente is a member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture of the Professional Regulation Commission.
